Now this story just makes me smile.
It seems that the other day turtles invaded JFK International Airport. So many of them that they actually had to shut down runway 4 L for a short while to remove them. It’s something that actually happens one or twice a year as female turtles look for a location to lay their eggs. The location actually is a short sandy beach (that is closed to the public…) that is very close to the runway.
And of course safety is an issue when it comes to air travel, so better safe than sorry and risk an accident on the runway.
You would think that with all the media hype about this, that the movie monster Gamera invaded JFK airport.
But at last it was not Gamera. Just simply a few little turtles trying to get across a runway.
But I will say this much about it…. “BRAVO” to the agency known as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey that manages JFK International airport for they actually have animal control experts on site to handle such a situation.
No turtle or human was harmed during the making of this news story.
And that is the best part about this. Is that nobody was harmed and the turtles lived. I guess the only ones that could complain are the passengers that had flights that gotten delayed for take off. A minor price to pay.
This is just one of those news stories that just has to put a smile on your face.
