I STILL GOT “IT” AFTER SO MANY YEARS.

So… Last night I was on the website www.adam4adam.com as I normally do from time to time. And the other night I was logged on with no set agenda, I just wanted to see what (or who I should say…) was online. Overall I really was not looking to get into anything, but just wanted to see what was out there.

Then I got the following e-mail message in my in box.

“dayum u look just like someone my boi showed me 4yrs back that was his bb bttm for 3yrs….wow i can see my boi enjoying u… (and my apologies i know u do safe only) my boi saw ur ad and profile and he left the room with a handon….LOL and ur not even here LOL”

I looked at the profile of the person that sent the e-mail. Actually it was a couple that was on the profile. It seems that they are quite comfortable in their relationship to the point that they both can look at other men with no problems doing so. I took the e-mail message as a complement and replied back saying that the message was fine with me and at the same time saying “thanks” for letting me know this. After sending my reply e-mail I thought to myself how funny it was that this persons partner seen my profile, thought I was hot then, get an erection to the point that he had to leave the room.

Then after a short while I had received another e-mail from them and the “getting to know you” conversation I guess you can say was starting. After a few exchanges of e-mails they asked for my cell number. The conversation was going well so I thought to myself that giving my number would not be a problem do to.

After e-mailing my number I had received a call and it was them. But here is when it got really interesting… After I said “hello” the person on the other side of the line said my full name, first and last name. Mind you I only gave them my first names in the e-mails we have exchanged. I replied “yes” and of course wondering who the hell this was since they knew my full name.

They told me their full name and it was right then and there that I realized that I do know this person! Long story short we use to mess around about ten years ago but have lost contact with each other. So we spent the time catching up on what we have been doing all these years past. They are doing well and of course now have a partner that they come home to every night. And of course I told them what I have been up to all these years.

Of course I had to mention that it was funny how he got hot and bothered when he seen my profile after so many years of not seeing each other. I guess I still got the “I still make you hot” factor. But overall it was a good conversation catching up with someone who I have not heard from in years.

Now I know you are wondering “since you just encountered a long-lost friend that you use to mess around with in bed, and they now have a partner. Would you cross the line and go to bed with them again?”

My answer… “No” for some lines should not be crossed in life. Then again…stranger things have happened to me in my life time.

Q AND A ABOUT “THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT” BLOG POSTING.

About just over a week ago I posted on my blog a posting called “THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, OR IN MY CASE THE RULES OF DATING.” To sum up the posting it was about a message that I had received one day on an online gay dating website.

It was more like a manifesto than just your regular e-mail you would get from someone while on an online dating website. The actual message the person sent to me on this online dating website is as well on the above mentioned blog post.

Some of my friends and a few other people who have read the post have decided to ask me questions directly, I guess they was looking for an “inside scoop” about the posting. Some of the questions asked were somewhat the same so I thought to answer them all in this post with the hopes of clearing things up, and to answer them here.

Q: “Did you ever meet this person that sent you that e-mail?”

A: “No… We never met.”

Q: “Was he good-looking?”

A: “Yes from the photo I have seen of them in their profile they was very hot, of course providing the photo was actually them.”

Q: “Have you replied back to them?”

A: “No I have not and I have no plans on doing so.”

Q: “Do you still see them online from time to time?”

A: “No for they have deleted their profile.”

Q: “Do you think you will see them again online?”

A: “No I don’t think so.”

Q: “Do you think you can recognize them if you see them on the street?”

A: “To be totally honest, I don’t think I would be able to recognize them if I seen them on the street.”

Q: “What was the online screen name they used online?”

A: “I am not going to give that information out, and I have no plans on telling anyone what the screen name was. Shame on you for even asking that question just so that you can hunt them down!”

Q: “What is the blast website that he talks about in the e-mail?”

A: “I have no idea what the blast website is, I have tried to look for it but I could not find it online.”

Well… the above was the top questions asked. And I hope that clears things up about the post.

ON TO THE NEXT ITEM ON MY LIST.

In my last blog post called “What the hell is going on?” I ranted about my dealings with my state’s unemployment office. The bottom line is the fact that I will continue to get unemployment funding but for only for twelve more weeks.

After that there will be no more funding coming to me, so I actually have to find some type of job before the year is over. So of course after getting that news I am now planning to pay my bills in advance and save up as much money as I possibly can.

To be honest it’s what I have been doing all this time. But this time I really have to focus at the task at hand. It’s a good thing that my hobby of photography helps me get rid of the stress of what is going on with me and the lack of employment.

The fact that my unemployment will send in twelve weeks has not hit me as of this moment. But I am sure that when the time comes it will then, providing of course I find a job before that happens. Only time will tell what is going to happen in the next few weeks. I guess all I can do is try my best and hope for the best for myself.

I do have a good support system of family and some good friends of mines. So I am sure they will give me a hand if they can, and that is one option that I don’t plan on abusing. It’s kind of odd knowing that I will be locked out from unemployment in a few weeks.

But I knew that this day was coming if I did not find a job. And lord knows I have been looking for one. Maybe my luck will change? Maybe it will not change? Not sure what will happen, I know I will have my good days and my bad days looking for work and with life in general. But I will be the optimistic person that I always am and hold my head up high and just keep moving forward.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

With myself being unemployed and looking for work I depend on the little money that I get from unemployment. Last week I filed for my usual funding on Friday as I always do, and I thought with the Columbus Day holiday I would receive it a little later than normal. Well this time that was not the case at all, after checking for two days past my usual day of when I receive my funding I still have not gotten my money.

Originally I thought my unemployment would last until November. I thought this based on my on-line account at the New York state unemployment office. Well it seems I was wrong and as of last week I was out of the standard funding.

It took me multiple phone calls to the unemployment office just to get an actual person on the phone. And all my attempts to reach someone on the phone took me over an hour. But I did get to reach someone and I was told that I needed to re-apply once again for my funding. When I asked them about the time-table on my on-line account, I was told that the information posted was wrong. WHAT THE HELL!!! How dare they have wrong information about my funding?

After that phone call I went back on-line and re-applied for my unemployment funding. It took a while for me to do this for I had to find my original paper work from when I first filed for unemployment. Once I found it I re-applied once again.

Then I had to print a confirmation page and call the unemployment office once again. And of course I had to wait over an hour to get a real person. Once I did get someone I gave them the information that they wanted over the phone. The person on the other end of the phone call told me that my funding would continue once again. And I would get my funding plus the funding that I have missed.

It seems that I am officially now on my extension of benefits and that will only last me twelve weeks. To be more precise until the end of the year, after that there will be no more funding. I will feel much better about this once I see the funding in my bank account next week.

But what bothers me the most is the fact that the information that they had on-line was wrong, you would think that the local unemployment office would have the correct information but they did not for I was not expecting my funding to end so soon. Based on what I had seen on-line I thought it would have been next month for my funding to end and for me to start getting my extension money.

Like I said before I will feel better once I see the money next week in my account. I wonder how many more people are having the same problem? Plus the fact that the local unemployment office rep did not even apologies for the on-line error is another concern for me. It was as if they admit they were wrong but want people to just “deal with it.”

For the record “yes… this is a rant.” But if other people who are reading this are unemployed I would recommend checking your unemployment funding to see that it is correct and that you don’t have to go through what I have been through.

It’s hard enough to be unemployed and look for work, but when you’re funding suddenly stops that is why too much stress for a person to go through.

THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, OR IN MY CASE THE RULES OF DATING.

I find it funny sometimes when I log on to a dating website like Adam 4 Adam dot-com. Or Men 4 Now dot-com and read other guys profile. Granted some of the profiles are straight forward with details of what the other person wants or expects from their future partners.

Then you find those profiles that have a big list of requirements it kind of looks like a manifesto. It might as well be a manifesto, once you read a person’s profile; they usually say “you must be this or that” “have your private photos opened when you send your message. “I must see your face in a photo” and so on.

And if you don’t follow the requirements to the letter they will not reply back to you or may even block you from sending another message to them. Is like as if one has to jump through hoops just to get a reply back, granted I am not the only one to have noticed this for I have spoken to a few friends that have encountered the something as well.

But overall my friends and I think it’s just ridiculous. Then one day some time back I had gotten a message from someone, mind you they sent their message to me first it was not a reply to something I had sent to them.  And lord and behold it was a very long and was a message sent to multiple people on the dating website that I was on.

The message exposed the people who have a “manifesto” and a long list of requirements for meeting someone. It was kind of like the book entitled “On the down low.” Which exposes the life of gay closeted men, I sent the message to a few friends and they were all in shock of what the message contained for it does expose the secrets in the gay life style.

After the message was sent to me the person’s account was deleted, maybe they were just frustrated and wanted to vent with the hopes of exposing the people with the requirements on their online dating profiles. Who knows… but it was an eye opener for me and my friends. Below is the actual e-mail message that the person sent to me. It’s in its original form and unedited. I guess overall someone had enough of trying to jump through the hoops when it came to meeting someone on-line.  The message is below for all to read.

BLACK SHADOW

Introduction:

One day while with my camera in DUMBO Brooklyn I had noticed that a few groups of people were taking photos. The neighborhood of DUMBO Brooklyn is a popular place for people to go to for a photography session.

Wedding photos are taken there; kids in film school go there as well and of course the usual tourist passes by as well to take photos too. But on this particular day a few months back I had noticed one group of people who I guess were trying to work on a photography project. But the odd thing about it I found was that the person and or subject that were being photographed looked way to perfect. For a moment I thought it was a manikin at first, but it was an actual person a woman to be exact.

But the way she looked it was just fake to me it did not look like the average person. No one I think would even try to look that good for a regular day. And even if they were going out to a late night date or event they still would not have looked as phony as this person I seen was. I guess the casual clothes she was wearing just did not match what I would consider for a casual look.

It was then I thought about doing a photo shoot with a person that had “flaws” and to do the photos in black and white to show and highlight the details. What I mean my “flaws” are things like a scar or mark on the skin of the person’s body. More of an average look for most people. I knew of one person that I wanted to photograph for the project and their body shape was a natural muscular look. And as well he had his usual scruffy unshaven appearance on his face. If you look closely you will see some of the models flaws.

When I seen him one day and told him about the photo project and my concept on how I wanted to do it, I then asked him if he was willing to be the model for my project. And his reply to me was in his usual “urban thug” voice replying back to me. “I don’t give a fuck.” That translates to “yes” So I set up the final details and we proceeded to a few locations to take the photos. Over one hundred photos were taken and after three months of reviewing the photos I had picked ten of them to be the final product of “Black Shadow.”

I hope you all enjoy the final product of what has become the “Black Shadow” project.

So the other night I had my first date with someone who I had met online. Our initial “encounter” online did go well. The conversations were good with no drama for sometimes online you might get a person whose opinions might come off as being extreme and radical.

And that might make the person on the receiving end of the e-mail might not want to pursue any further but that was not the case and our online went for a few days with no problem at all. From there it went to text messages and that was fine too. No problems at all with the messages that were sent back and forth. From there it progressed to actual phone calls, and that went well too.

Going from e-mails to text messages to phone calls is of course the online evolution of meeting someone, one step at a time and see what develops with each step taken. With the final step being the first meeting, one can no longer hide behind the e-mails the text messages and the phone calls. It becomes a “one on one” meeting to see how actual interactions are.

I even went as far to make the following comment on my Twitter account before going on this first date saying. “Soon I will have to get ready for my date. I hope they don’t have issues or baggage that can fill a 747 jumbo jet.” Well… Guess what? There were issues and what I thought about that was the fact that some of the issues still needed to be address by this person. But is seems that they are not willing to do so at this time was the vibe that I picked up.

Granted the overall personality of this person was of attitude, cocky, and somewhat “uptight” and arrogant. But at the same time was confident, about himself and his career, I guess it’s to make up for the unaddressed issues that they might have.

But I will be honest and fair and say that the date was fine, I just have some problems with what they said during our conversations. We had a late night dinner nothing exotic or major for it was take out Chinese food that we had called in and have delivered and actually it was quite good. And a few glasses of wine, well… he had a few glasses of wine, I had a lot of glasses of wine.

I was somewhat “tipsy” but I held my own and I think they did not notice that I was slightly buzzed. Which I thought was a good thing. And I have to admit that the drinking did make the conversation that we were having easier to digest. Granted I have heard their issues before from other people in different forms. But I feel from my past and current conversation that I had the other night that they really just need to take the time to address the issues that they have. But I have also leaned in life that they might not address them for they feel that they are not at fault.

Would I meet up with this person again? I would say “yes” just to see some more feedback on how they react to other items. For one does not totally know a person just based on the first meeting. And I could be wrong with my initial thoughts of what I think of them and if that is the case I have no problem admitting it. On the way home I posted to my Twitter account “On my way home from my date tonight. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best. I would give it a 4.” Maybe that number might change the next time we meet, if we do meet that is. But I will say this much… The liquor did help the night go easier.

TALK TO SOMEONE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND GET ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS.

Early last week I had gotten an invite to go to a focus group, but what really got my attention was the fact that if you went to the focus group you get one-hundred dollars. Now with me being unemployed I could always use the extra money.

I have had some friends and associates go to these things and I have to admit that I always wanted to go to one. Once I had gotten the invite I called the place to schedule a date to show up. While talking to the person on the phone, they actually pre-screen you via the phone to see if you are a good fit for the group.

After the pre-screening I was told I would make a good candidate and asked when I wanted to come in. I gave them the date of this past Wednesday and actually went to it. Like I said before I could use the money since I was not working.

On the day of the meeting I traveled into Manhattan, it took me three subway trains to get there, but the trip did not take long. Once at the place I signed in and waited in the waiting room to be called. They had food, soda and chocolate chip cookies to eat. Of course I went for the cookies, and they were actually fresh and soft just the way I like them.

Once I was called I was taken to a conference room and spoke to the woman who was going to interview me. She told me a few things that I thought were interesting. They were that the conversation was being videotaped and that six people were also looking and reviewing the meeting through a one way mirror.

I thought to myself that I was glad that I was wearing my tee-shirt that promotes my blog. For anyone that sees the video tape will see the sights web address and maybe check it out I giggled to myself and thought that it was one more way to promote it.

Once the woman told me these details she asked me what I do and what are my interests, after giving my answers we started the interview. It was not really an interview but more like a question and answer session. And I have to admit that the time did go quickly I thought, for after forty-five minutes of talking it was all over. I am a people person so when I do have a good conversation the time goes quickly for me.

The woman then wanted to go into the other room to the people who were observing this behind the one way mirror and see if they had any questions as well. After a few minutes she came back and asked me the questions they had. Once I answered them the meeting was officially over.

I was not sure as I was leaving if the money I was promised was going to be mailed as a check. But once I got to the reception area I was asked to initial where I originally signed in and was handed an envelope. Once I got into the elevator I opened the envelope and seen a crisp new one-hundred dollar bill. I was quite happy about getting the money right away for it did come in handy.

I guess I could do more focus group meetings, as long as I get paid for them. But I have to admit it was the fastest and easiest way to get one hundred dollars. So I might do some research to see if I can do more focus groups. Talk about making easy money. But I will say that doing the focus group meeting was a bonus for me.
