With the month of August coming to a close, summer will soon be over and in a few weeks after Labor Day the season of autumn begins. Leafs will begin to change colors and of course fall off the trees. And once the leafs fall they are not seen again until the next spring.
During my travels around New York City I have noticed on several Brooklyn streets the concrete had impressions of leafs on them. Normally we would see street art, names written in the concrete before it sets and get hard, and spray painted markings for construction.
But this time around it impressions of leafs, a permanent reminder on the street of a moment in time when the seasons change. So I guess it’s safe to say that the street was under construction during the late summer start of the fall season.
What really caught my attention about the impressions were the details of the leafs were perfectly preserved, as if it was a fossil. Mind you with thousands of people walking the streets of any city I was surprised to see the impressions not ruined by a foot print before the concrete fully harden.
Below are the images of the leafs forever preserved in time, how long have they been there on the street? I have no idea and until the street once again goes under construction it will serve as a permanent reminder of the change of seasons.
